Sesame Chicken Balls

This is a great appetizer as you can serve it hot or cold. Make sure to make little, one bite, balls and put sandwich picks on the side.

SERVES 6

INGREDIENTS

1  lb extra-lean ground chicken (450 grams)
1  tbsp soya sauce light
1  tsp sesame oil
¼ cup green onions, thinly sliced
    salt and freshly ground pepper

DIPPING SAUCE

1  tsp hoisin sauce
2  tbsp soya sauce, light
1  tsp sesame oil
1  tsp wasabi powder or paste
2  tsp chicken ball juices

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Cover heavy roasting pan with aluminum foil. In a large bowl, mix together extra-lean ground chicken, soya sauce, sesame oil, and green onions. Using your hands make round balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place on the pan. Insert pan in the oven for 25 minutes or until chicken balls cooked inside.

To make dipping sauce, combine together hoisin sauce, soya sauce, sesame oil, and wasabi power.

Once chicken balls are done, take them out from the roasting pan and arrange on a platter alongside sandwich picks. To the dipping sauce add chicken juice from the roasting pan. Serve dipping sauce along with chicken balls. Enjoy!

TIP DU JOUR:
Do add chicken ball juice to the dipping sauce, your not adding a lot of extra fat. Because you’re using extra-lean ground chicken there is very little residual fat in the roasting pan, what remains is mostly just chicken flavour.

This step really gives a lot of additional flavour, you and your guests will love it.
